Regatta has been retired!
"Dear Norman: I received the Monteverde Regatta today and it is even more handsome than it appears on the Website. I can't understand why Monteverde no longer manufactures this terrific pen. I like the B nib as well; better than the M that I have on my Napa. And as you note, the magnetic cap adds to its convenience. I note that it uses a push in converter rather than the threaded type of the Napa, an extra of which I purchased from you last time. I also just want to add that the security you add to your purchases by inspecting the pen before sending it is invaluable. Thank you for this."

"Norman, I have received the new pen and ink, and am
thoroughly delighted. My handwriting still stinks though.
This is a wonderful pen and I look forward to
writing with it more and more over the years...Maybe I will even get a few
more nibs to go with it!"
"My pens arrived today! I LOVE them both. I remember
that you said the F nibs were like an extra fine, but both of these pens are
perfect for me! The Invincia (which is much
better looking in person-the finish is very luminous) is slightly finer than
the Regatta, but I think these will both be daily writers. I love how heavy
they both are, and the magnetic closure on the Regatta is very nice. Wonderful
pens at a terrific price!"
"Dear Norman: My Monteverde Regatta chrome and black fountain pen arrived today, as did the Private Reserve Purple Mojo bottles. I am absolutely delighted, and although I have only written a couple of sentences with it, I am confident I am going to love it as much as I did my Mont Blanc Ramses II predecessor. So back into the real art of penmanship again - whoopee. thank you."

"Hello Mr.Haase, i just got my pen today and it's
awesome, it writes so smooth. I just want to thank you for the great review on
Youtube, and the great customer service."

Reintroducing the Monteverde Regatta line of pens.
Although the original Regatta line first appeared in the Monteverde line-up many
years ago, it's been recreated in new finishes -- and most importantly -- with a
new feature in the fountain pen and rollerball versions...
MV41337 - Regatta Fountain Pens -
White / Blue
The original iteration of the design had a screw-on cap -- which also screwed on the rear to post. The new version employs magnetic technology to bring you the ease of a slip cap, with the security of a screw cap. To my mind, the best of both worlds.
These are oversized pens, with the fountain pen measuring 5-3/8" capped, 6-3/8" posted and 5" with cap held aside.
The largely metal pens alternate metal sections with resin panels, separated by diamond-cut rings...creating a very distinctive look. Although the pens have a nice heft, this design prevents an overly-heavy pen, and I've found them to be very well-balanced and a pleasure to write with during extended composing sessions.
I've also found myself becoming enamored of the ease-of-use of the magnetic cap technology. It makes for jotting a quick note a very easy endeavor compared to a screw-type cap, and also enables me to quickly pick-up any paperclips that have fallen to the floor. The instantly secure posting of the cap is also a boon. I hope that more pens will make use of this innovative idea.
The cap bank is engraved with 'Monteverde USA' on the front, and 'Regatta' on the back. The cap itself is crowned in relief with the Monteverde mountain peaks logo.
The nib is similarly engraved with 'Monteverde USA', along with the Monteverde mountain logo and nib size. The nibs are available in B, M, F or the new stub sizes. I've found that Monteverde nibs run about a size smaller than typical western nibs. Hence, I'd classify the B nib as a typical medium, the M as a fine and the F as an x-fine. The stub is a 1.1 mm medium. Please specify the nib size you'd like, by letter or 'stub' only, to avoid confusion when ordering.
The fountain pens come with a piston converter for bottled ink...but as with all new pens, I recommend to run a dilute solution of dishwashing soap (two or three drops to a small bowl of water) through a new converter a few times (outside of the pen!), followed by water only. Step one is effective at removing manufacturing oils that can tend to make the ink less than enthusiastic in heading from the converter to the nib, and step two removes the traces of the detergent you've used...which tends to have the opposite, diuretic effect. The pen will also take International-style cartridges, such as those from Private Reserve. The Monteverde gift box and warranty are included.
These are oversized pens, with the rollerball pen measuring 5-3/8" capped, 6-1/4" posted and 4-3/4" with cap held aside.

IMPORTANT SERVICE NOTE: Every nib that ships from His Nibs is closely examined under high magnification and tuned or adjusted if needed. About 85% of modern nibs need some adjustment out-of-the-box from the manufacturer for an optimal writing experience. Most commonly, the tines of the nib are misaligned -- which would cause scratchiness at the minimum; the slit between the tines is partially or fully closed -- which would starve the nib of ink and at best cause skipping; or the slit between the tines is too wide -- which will either again cause skipping, or conversely, flooding. There are other factors -- such as separation of the nib from the feed -- that are inspected and repaired before any pen leaves the Palace.
The only 100% guarantee of course comes when the pen is actually filled with ink and written with for the first time, but our pre-shipping inspections and tunings have eliminated 99.99999 (my finger is getting tired) of the frustrations that a customer experiences when first using a new fountain pen. Although this can be time-consuming on occasion, it affords our customers a much more pleasant experience when receiving a fountain pen from His Nibs -- and saves us the frustration of dealing with returns!

Warranties and returns
If an item proves to be defective, in most cases the manufacturer's warranty will apply. However, please email us first so that we can determine the easiest way to resolve the problem to your satisfaction. In the case of fountain pens -- which are a bit more individualistic than other writing instruments -- what may at first appear to be a defect (hard starting or poor flow for example), can in almost all cases be resolved with a few simple 'tweaks' to the nib, which we'll be happy to guide you through or perhaps suggest returning to us for adjustment.
Should you wish to return a non-defective item within 3 days of receipt because it doesn't suit you for some reason, again please email us and we'll arrange an exchange, credit or refund (minus any shipping/insurance charges), if the item is returned in an 'as new' condition. If you've dipped a fountain pen to try its writing characteristics, kindly clean off any ink residue prior to shipping -- to save us both a nasty surprise .
We want you to be happy with your purchase from HisNibs.com and hope to have you join the ranks of our many long-term, repeat customers!
