Need bottled ink or refills?

The New York Times article

(Some people have experienced poor ink flow the first time after filling the Mega. It's necessary for the tip to become fully saturated with ink in order for the pen to operate properly. Experience has shown that a good method is to fill the pen with ink from the bottle, and while the tip is still immersed in the ink, to expel the ink by reversing the piston and then to refill the pen. Then, blot excess ink from the tip, place the cap on the pen and allow it to rest point-down for 30 minutes, allowing capillary action to fully saturate the tip the first time).

"For the first time in the history of this magazine we've dedicated our cover story to a rollerball. And we are happy to do it because the product in question represents a true revolution in the writing world."
Paolo Bargossi, PENNA magazine, January 2006

"Hi Norm,
Just want to let you know that even tho' I am an "IT Professional" and typing on a keyboard all day, I find plenty of chances to use my Mega.  As I mentioned before, but bears repeating, this is a great pen for lefties who want the fountain pen experience.  I am going to recommend it to The Lefthanders Catalog that I receive from the UK that stocks all kinds of items for lefties.  You know, righties don't realize that "pushing" a fountain pen from the left causes it to skip versus "pulling" it from the right, and with this pen that doesn't happen. Here is finally a way to get the liquid ink experience for us lefties. (OK, so it's not exactly the same as the depth-of-experience that nibs give, but hey, I didn't have to look for something specially made for lefties either!)"
T.S., Chicago, IL

"My pen arrived earlier this week and I am impressed end to end with it. More so however I am impressed with the five star end to end service I received from your company. Great job."
P. R., Vancouver, Canada

"Norman, the pens got in today. One thing I can say is that Mega inkball should just be called the MEGA!
The presentation is great as well. Thanks much for the great , or should I just say, MEGA service."

C. B., U.S. military

"You keep coming up with the most interesting, personally attractive pens and, per usual, I cannot resist. First, I want to let you know that the Monteverde Mega Ink Ball has turned out to be everything I could ask for—it has just the right size and heft plus it writes smoothly and flawlessly." W. M., Merced, CA

"Hello! I got the MEGA pen a few days ago but didn't have the chance to write at once. Just wanted to tell you that the pen is unbelievable!... and it writes so smoothly! I find myself reaching for the pen often even to write my grocery list! Thanks for telling me about this great pen."
L. H., Philippines

"Mr. Haase, I received the Mega Ink*Ball pen and it is wonderful, writing smooth and bold (for me at least, that is the way I like it) with some great Cobalt Blue ink. Everything about the MEGA was exactly as you described it on your website, just great."
J. N., Hopewell Junction, NY

"I have tried the pen as well as posted a review of it on FPN. I think that this is the smoothest pen I have used and also the most adroit compromise between FP and BP. What a joy that I don't have to push it when I write, cluster my fingers around a narrow tip, or write twice to complete carbon copies. This was a worthy investment. I believe this one could topple traditional FP's if it receives enough attention."
A. S., Sinking Springs, PA

Since it's introduction in 2006, the Mega line of pens has re-written the definition of what a fine rollerball means. We're proud to present the White & Gold, an all-white body with/Gold (3micron) plating trim. The medium-sized gold and black Mega is actually a full-sized pen by anyone's definition. It measures 5-1/4" capped and 5-3/4" posted. For the fountain users amongst us, it's just a little shorter -- and with a similar girth -- to a Montblanc 149!

From the Monteverde booklet that is enclosed with the pen:

Mega™ Inkball™ point: The world's first fountain pen with a rollerball tip and tungsten carbide ball. The Mega™ Inkball™ writing system gives you the ink flow of a fountain pen with the convenience and control of a rollerball. Each Inkball™ point will last about one kilometer of writing!

Filling system: The Mega™ Inkball™ draws ink just like a fountain pen. It can be filled through the Mega™ point, used with a converter or with a standard international ink cartridge.

Clip: Mega™ specific design with heavy-duty spring-loaded, color matched jewelry-grade chromium mask.

Cap & body: Hand-turned, high-density acrylic resins, close tolerance threads for secure closing and engineered Mega™ colors for a luxurious look.

Trim: Strategically placed and color matched jewelry-grade chromium.

Packaging: The unique presentation box has lacquered wood accents and a magnetic closure system. An engraved velvet cover reveals the Mega™ kit, which includes: a Mega™ Inkball™ writing instrument, a bottle of highest quality MonteVerde™ ink and 3 extra point sections.

These are really handsome pens...even if they don't have nibs! Simple in design and shape, with a very comfortable feel in the hand. Despite their size, they're light weight, so writing is fatigue-free. In fact, due to their ergonomic, slightly bulbous shape, I've found using the MEGA to be a very pleasurable experience in extended writing sessions.

I would add that the full-sized ink converter screws into the pen's section for added security, and the multiple points allow for easier switching between ink colors, especially if cartridges are used (no rinsing of the converter in that case). The included Monteverde ink is black, but I think we can get a little more creative than that here.

Warranties and returns

If an item proves to be defective, in most cases the manufacturer's warranty will apply. However, please email us first so that we can determine the easiest way to resolve the problem to your satisfaction. In the case of fountain pens -- which are a bit more individualistic than other writing instruments -- what may at first appear to be a defect (hard starting or poor flow for example), can in almost all cases be resolved with a few simple 'tweaks' to the nib, which we'll be happy to guide you through or perhaps suggest returning to us for adjustment.

Should you wish to return a non-defective item within 3 days of receipt because it doesn't suit you for some reason, again please email us and we'll arrange an exchange, credit or refund (minus any shipping/insurance charges), if the item is returned in an 'as new' condition. If you've dipped a fountain pen to try its writing characteristics, kindly clean off any ink residue prior to shipping -- to save us both a nasty surprise .

We want you to be happy with your purchase from His Nibs.com and hope to have you join the ranks of our many long-term, repeat customers!
