Hero
Need bottled ink or refills?
The Hero '329' series has been a perennial best-seller of the Hero line. Like the '330' series, these pens have hooded nibs, designed to recall the Parker '51' and '61'. Just above the nib is an arrow symbol insert, much like that found on the Parker '61' (although certain customers that it's the 'Star Trek' emblem <G>). They measure 5-1/2" capped, and 5-3/4" posted. They lay down a 'very' fine line, have aerometric-style 'pump' converters for bottled ink (with an ink-view window), and spring clips (with the name 'Hero' engraved upon it). They have brushed-steel slip caps, which have the Chinese characters for 'Hero', '329' and 'Made in China' etched upon them. These pens seem to write forever! This was the first Hero model I was ever exposed to, and is the model which convinced me to start carrying the entire line.
"Hi Norman, I have been checking your website
specifically for 329's almost daily (but I also look with great interest at
all your pens). I had already purchased a 329 from you a while back, and it is
one of the best pens that I have, at least as good as, if not better than, my
Watermans, Sheaffers, Parkers, Mont Blanc, etc."
J. S., Richmond, VA
"I used the Hero 329 you sold me to write early
drafts of my thesis. Thanks for the great pens!" "Norman: Want to let you know that I have
received my order. Both pens exceeded my expectation in appearance and
performance. They are added to my small collection. Anyone,
who is looking for a fountain pen as a gift or personal use, this is the site of
maximum value in your purchase. Norm, you do provided top of the line value
that I trust. The Hero 616 is my journal pen and
the 329 my work pen. Thank you for your attention to detail. Best wishes. I
will buy again and recommend your site."
"Hi
Norman, just wanted to let you know I received the pens and ink on
Wednesday. Very fast shipping, even with the border crossing. I love,
love, love the pens. The Pilot 78G - both the
F and B nibs - are wonderful. Somehow my penmanship improve with both these
pens! The Hero 329 is also great - I love the extra fine nib and this will
now be my everyday writing pen. And finally, I found inks that are
beautiful, deep and bright in colour! The Private Reserve Spearmint is the
exact shade of green I was looking for and the Purple Mojo is a wonderful
shade of purple. By the way, I had some issues filling the pens as I've
never owned a pump style cartridge, only piston style. But thanks to your
video on YouTube, I was able to follow your tips and now I'm good to go!
Thanks again."
C. P., Oshawa, Canada
"I just received the Hero 329 pens in the mail
today. Thanks so much for the great service and fast shipment! I bought
three pens: one for me, one for my mother, and one for my girlfriend, and
all three of us give them two thumbs up, so I guess that would be six thumbs
up? Beyond the bad joke, I really am enjoying the super-fine point on this
pen, the great feel of the nib, and the serious amount of ink it holds. I
can't wait to see how it will find its way into my workflow and what role it
will take, but I'm sure it will serve its purpose admirably. Thank you again
for carrying this pen and for selling it; It's such a great value. I'll be
sure to visit His Nibs.com again very soon." "Hi Norman, I wanted to let you know that
the Hero 329 arrived and I'm loving it. I bought it with very low expectations
due to its low price. However, it is becoming the pen I reach for most often.
I have numerous other pens, some costing hundreds of dollars, but the Hero 329
is one of the best."
"Hello Norman. Since my last message to you, I've
inked up my new '329' and covered an entire notebook page with Forest Green
words of praise and joy! Norman, this pen writes beautifully! Substantially
finer than my Al-Star's 'extra fine' nib (which is perfect for me) so I'll
have no trouble writing in the margins of papers and books. I am completely
satisfied with the balance of this pen (posted and unposted). I am also
jubilant about the '329' from a perspective of aesthetics; this is a gorgeous
writing instrument!...Since receiving my 329 two days ago, I've continuously
tested its limits regarding inks, paper compatibility and overall
performance. It writes flawlessly on every level of paper from Clairefontaine
to newsprint. I can finally use a fountain pen with my Moleskine again! =)
My 329 also lays down such a smooth, hair-fine line so that writing in cramped
margins on poor-quality mass-produced books and cheap printer paper is an
absolute breeze! "Hi Norman, I need another Hero 329.
I've been using it to draw my New Yorker cartoons (they've bought 5 so far).
Last night I sat down with it in my pocket and I broke the body in half. I'm
glad they're still available. The pen is great. I've been using it every day for
over a year and it only gets smoother." "Hi,
Norman: I am usually not a fine nib fountain pen user; however, I must say that
I absolutely love the Hero 329! Though a very fine line, it writes ever so
smoothly and is a joy to use. You may have converted a medium-bold nib user.
Best," "Hello Norman: I just received the
hero 329 pen, and I have to say that I am completely satisfied with its great
performance, indeed is a great pen and it definitely exceeded my expectations,
the nib is smooth and it just feels great on my hand...it is just a pleasure to
write with such a nice fountain pen, and thanks to "his nibs" the dream comes
true.....Thanks for the kindly note and the good service, count on me as a loyal
customer." "Norman, I received the pens and ink
today....Thank You! I filled them both with great anticipation of putting the
pen's to paper and WOW was I impressed. I am hooked, the 329's are smooth with
a perfect flow of ink, they are amazing." "Norman, I just received my Hero 329
series fountain pen. The design is sleek and sharp. This pen is perfect for
writing in small spaces, such as accounting journals, check registers and thank
you cards. The Hero 329 is a welcome addition to anyone's collection. "Greetings
Norman. Just to let you know that my order arrived today. Once again, many
thanks for your amazingly fast service. Also, a note on the '329': I agree that
it is the best buy in 'Pendom', certainly the best buy that I've found. I have a
number (yes, a large number) of affordable pens. A Lamy Safari, a few Parker
'45's, Parker '21's and a Waterman Phileas, to name a few. I suppose we all have
our own sense of esthetics. That said, the '329' beats all others in terms of
looks, feel and writing characteristics. The customer feedback on you website
does not exaggerate. The '329' is a great deal. Thanks again." "This will be the second 329 I have ordered from
you. I draft everything longhand, even my blog "Thanks for the nice handwritten and sealed note... and for the Hero 329! It's a bit smaller than my '51 Special but I love the nib. It wrote smoothly from the moment I first set it to paper. It immediately became my favorite in my daily use. (I love my 51 but can't seem to keep it from seeping a bit around the clutch ring. No such problem with the 329.) The delightful writing qualities and attractiveness of such an inexpensive pen are truly impressive. I know you don't always have these particular pens in stock but I'll probably order a few more soon." J. E., Towson, MD "Hi Norman, I wanted to thank you for the order. I LOVE the Hero '329'!!!!! What a great little pen for daily use. I'm using it today and it has been a joy." L.F., Albert Lea, MN
"Definitely enjoyed. It's a bit like writing with
a very fine, smooth nail (compared to my flexys and most of the medium points
I have), but it's exactly what I needed for these index cards. No feathering
on even the recycled content cards. I love the light weight, the ink
capacity, and the perfectly smooth, fine line. Thanks!!" P. R., Longmont, CO
"Norman, got back from San Diego yesterday and
discovered the pen waiting for me. *Incredible* is the only way to describe it.
The reviews on your page about the 329's were not hyperbole at all- and I was
pleased to "Hi Norman, I just received the Hero 329 today. I have to say I'm very impressed with this pen. This is my first Hero, and I really wasn't expecting much, mostly because of the price of this pen, but I was pleasantly surprised. The iridium-tipped nib and the spring loaded clip are usually only found on pens costing many times what you're charging for the 329. It's a lightweight, well balanced pen with great looks that writes very well, and the Aerometric style filler works great! All in all, it's a great pen at an unbelievable price. I will definitely be adding more Hero pens to my collection. Thanks for the great pen." T.P., Mtn Home AFB, ID "Hi Norman, I received the Hero 329 a couple of days ago, and I like it a lot so far. It's hard to believe it was only $15 -- I can see why you decided to start importing them!" D.M., Newton, MA "Oh my goodness!!! I got the two pens today. I am amazed at their quality for price! I'll start off with the Hero 329, I tested it first. I was amazed as to how it wrote as good if not better than my Parker "21". I love the clear filler around the collar so you can see the ink. The pen is finished very nicely and looks like it is a wonderful everyday writing fountain pen. The finish of the pen is fantastic as well. I used Parker Penman ink and it writes amazingly well for a $15 pen. Perhaps when my son and daughter get a little older, I can order them one each and introduce them to the world of writing with fountain pens." Richard Masso, Buda, TX "Thanks Norman, you can bet they will be enjoyed. These are gifts to friends who, like myself, are cartoonists... It's the best pen EVER for drawing...it's got a nice fine nib which is quite flexible, the ink FLOWS well, it doesn't dry out when not used for a minute or two, it takes waterproof Calli brand ink (this is important for us with damp palms, as we're continually tracking the ink over the page when working on a drawing), and, of course, it looks really nice, simple, and elegant. Oh, and it's AFFORDABLE. You're doing quite a service by making these available. GREAT pens. The best even." Jordan Crane, Los Angeles, CA http://www.reddingk.com "My order arrived safe and sound a few minutes
ago. I have inked up the 329 already.
I love it! I find it amazing that such quality is available so inexpensively." "Hello! My fountain pen arrived today, along with
your generous "June
Special" fountain pen! I have just finished writing with my "Hero 329" and
am so pleased. It writes so smoothly, and for only $15.00 it is an amazing
pen! Thanks for the great service and be sure to keep me on your email
list!" click on photos to enlarge
Burgundy $15.00 Sold out
Dark Green $15.00 Sold out
Jet Black $15.00 Sold out As with all new pens, I recommend to run a dilute solution of dishwashing soap
(two or three drops to a small bowl of water) through a new pen a few
times, followed by water only. Step one is effective at
removing manufacturing oils that can tend to make the ink less than enthusiastic
in heading from the converter/filler to the nib, and step two removes the traces of the
detergent you've used...which tends to have the opposite, diuretic effect.
IMPORTANT SERVICE NOTE: Every nib that ships from His Nibs is closely examined under high magnification and tuned or adjusted if needed. About 85% of modern nibs need some adjustment out-of-the-box from the manufacturer for an optimal writing experience. Most commonly, the tines of the nib are misaligned -- which would cause scratchiness at the minimum; the slit between the tines is partially or fully closed -- which would starve the nib of ink and at best cause skipping; or the slit between the tines is too wide -- which will either again cause skipping, or conversely, flooding. There are other factors -- such as separation of the nib from the feed -- that are inspected and repaired before any pen leaves the Palace. The only 100% guarantee of course
comes when the pen is
actually filled with ink and written with for the first time, but our
pre-shipping inspections and tunings have eliminated 99.99999 (my finger is
getting tired) of the frustrations that a customer experiences when first using
a new fountain pen. Although this can be time-consuming on occasion, it affords
our customers a much more pleasant experience when receiving a fountain pen from
His Nibs -- and saves us the frustration of dealing with returns!

Warranties and returns If an item proves to be defective, in most cases the manufacturer's warranty will apply. However, please email us first so that we can determine the easiest way to resolve the problem to your satisfaction. In the case of fountain pens -- which are a bit more individualistic than other writing instruments -- what may at first appear to be a defect (hard starting or poor flow for example), can in almost all cases be resolved with a few simple 'tweaks' to the nib, which we'll be happy to guide you through or perhaps suggest returning to us for adjustment. Should you wish to return a non-defective
item within 3 days of receipt because it doesn't suit you for some reason, again
please email us and we'll arrange an exchange, credit or refund (minus any
shipping/insurance charges), if the item is returned in an 'as new' condition.
If you've dipped a fountain pen to try its writing characteristics, kindly clean
off any ink residue prior to shipping -- to save us both a nasty surprise
We want you to be happy with your purchase from HisNibs.com and hope to have you join the ranks of our many long-term, repeat customers!
